Deezer review (2021): catalog, prices, quality… Does the French music streaming platform still have what it takes to compete with the behemoths?

Like all other services of its kind, Deezer offers listening in 160 kbits/s MP3 quality for its free offer. Thanks to the premium offer, we go to 320 kbits / s. Finally, like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal or Qobuz, a Deezer HiFi subscription allows you to enjoy music in FLAC at 1,411 kbits/s.

It is important to mention that not all of the catalog available on Deezer is compatible with this lossless FLAC quality, so you will have to browse through all the titles offered in the application to find the files eligible for CD quality. On the other hand, the platform offers a few playlists to easily find Hi-Fi compatible titles related to the user's favorite musical genres.

Small problem, however: to take advantage of FLAC quality, you will also need active speakers or a fairly recent Hi-Fi installation. Indeed, the offer is not of great interest if you mainly plan to listen to your music on inexpensive headphones or entry-level headphones.
