5If you are tired of type your password each time you turn on your computer, why not use the smartphone you still have on hand?
I have been invading the smartphone world for years for years.Practical, secure and effective, these biometric sensors made the unlocking of our smartphone faster. For a device that we unlock tens or hundreds of times a day, it is a real plus.
However, this technology has become of little democratized on our laptops.Except the high -end models, many computers remain devoid of this very practical sensor.Fortunately, there is a trick to use the fingerprint reader of your smartphone to unlock your PC and avoid having to grab a complex password each time.
1 - Download the Windows customer
This tip is very simple and only asks to download an app on your phone and, of course, another on your computer. The app is called Remote Fingerprint Unlock and is available on the Play Store.
2 - Download the Android app
Once the software is installed, you will not see it anywhere, which is completely normal. It is only active when your computer is locked. It's now time to download the application to your Android phone.
3 - PC and phone bind
If everything went well, you should now be able to unlock your computer by opening the app and scanning your imprint on the "Unlock" screen! The pro version-which you are talking about below-allows you to unlock a widget which avoids the opening of the app every time.
Safety and pro version of the app
The idea of unlocking your PC via the fingerprint reader can shake users who are most attached to safety. For those who would like to know more about the functioning of the system, a discussion wire (in English) exists on the famous XDA-Developers forum. The developer reassures users there by explaining that the recognition of the imprint is operated via the official Android API and that only an encrypted authentication token is sent to your computer. The most curious can read the 38 pages of discussion that detail all this.
Note also that it is possible to buy the pro version of the app for € 1.99.The latter allows you to add a widget to your home screen and works with more than one computer. If you juggle several positions (at the office and at home, for example), this can be useful.
