Samsung is preparing his offensive to counter the OLED.During its Unbox and Discover event, the South Korean unveiled its first TV Neo Qled and Micro LED which will be marketed this year.

After these 2021, Samsung confirmed its wide range of 2021 televisions, which goes from high -end micro LEDs to its new Neo Qled televisions (which are in fact the mini LED) without forgetting the new The Frame models.

Although most of the new televisions have already been unveiled during CES 2021, this event was an opportunity to discover the latest details, launch dates and even some surprises.

The Neo Qled: the mini LED enters into action

This is a technology that was mentioned in these 2021, it was introduced by Samsung. His name evokes the fact that it is the successor to QLED TV.These are always LCD screens (so we have backlight), but LEDs (their small name is LED Quantum Mini) are 40 times smaller than LEDs that integrate a QLED TV from 2020.

Samsung also applies quantum filters (and a QLC filter to improve the diffusion of lighting depending on the model). In the end, this makes it possible to boost the contrasts and extend the color coverage of the slabs.

The NEO QLED 8K

They are therefore very promising televisions against OLED TV.Samsung 8k NEO QLED (Qn800A and Qn900A) models will be available in 65 inches, 75 inches and 85 inch, while its 4K (Qn90A and Qn85A) models will offer an even wider choice, from 50 inches.

Neo Qled are cut for gaming

Samsung took the opportunity to evoke some functions of the Samsung Neo Qled, these are very gaming -oriented characteristics. With the Game Bar, you can easily see at a glance which game functions you have activated or deactivated. This is a novelty very similar to what LG introduced on its 2021 OLED TVs. In addition, with the Super Ultrawide GameView, you get extremely wide display ratio on your TV, from 21: 9 to 32:9.If you have read our guide dedicated to ultrawid monitors, this can bring some comfort depending on the games.

As a reminder, the NEO QLEDs are able to display 4K games with a 120 Hz refreshment rate, these televisions also have a response response time of 5.8 ms.These are two characteristics that classify these TVs among the best on the market for this use.

Neo Qled are cut for gaming

Samsung also announced that its NEO QLED (on Q70A and Superior) would be the first to integrate AMD FREESYNC Premium Pro.This is the alternative to Nvidia G-Sync, available on LG OLED TV, which offers the highest level of material vertical synchronization, while benefiting from access to HDR and taking charge of a gamut ofLarge color.

As a reminder, this technology prevents the appearance of torn images, to allow you to permanently benefit from a fluid image frequency for your games.Very practical for your PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and your gaming PC.

Neo Qled's 2021 range

From 1,850 euros to more than 7,500 euros

The largest 8K TVs of 65, 75 and 85 inches will be sold between 5,000 and 9,000 dollars.4K televisions are available in two ranges including 55 to 85 inch devices, with prices from $ 1,600 to 5,000.

We have not yet had the prices in euros for the French market.According to those unveiled by Samsung Switzerland, it will be necessary to spend 6,000 euros on the QN900A model in a 65 -inch version and just over 10,000 euros for the 85 -inch declination. As for the QN90A range, you will have to pay around 1,850 euros for the 50 inch version, compared to around 5,850 euros for the 85 -inch version.

The QN85A range is sold from 1,850 euros for the 55 inch version at € 5,000 for the 85 -inch version. Finally, the Qn800A family is at 3,999 euros for the 65 euros model, and up to € 7,500 for the 85 euros model.

While waiting for prices, here are the repairability notes

The micro LED: the real alternative to the OLED arrives but it will not be for everyone

The micro LED finally arrives, we have been talking about it for years in international salons. Why is this technology fascinating technophiles? It is self -emissive like the OLED (the pixels produce their own light), the pic of brightness is very important (one of the weak points of the OLED), the response time is less than the microsecond, and finally the resistance and thelifespan are important (we are talking about 100,000 hours against 50,000 hours for the OLED).

The first micro LEDs marketed in the world for the general public

Why does the OLED seem so bad against the microled?Mainly because the OLED is organic (it uses small molecules). This means that it will deteriorate in time, this is the case particularly of the emitting blue light material which has the shortest longevity compared to red and green transmitters.

The microled has a non -organic structure. The diodes that equip the Microled screens emit light thanks to the gallium nitride (a semiconductor).

The challenge around the micro LED is to miniaturize diodes and lower the price. This should ultimately replace Samsung LED TVs, this will have to market a range of TV with different diagonals at affordable prices. It will obviously take several years.

We have just learned that the first micro LED TVs will be available worldwide in 110 and 99 inch models this spring 2021, while the 88 -inch model will be marketed in the fall. There is also a 76 -inch model that will be marketed later.

4VUE (quad view) on micro LEDs

While waiting for smaller models, Samsung takes advantage of these very large diagonals: they therefore mentioned the 4 -view function (Quad View) which allows you to look at four sources at the same time in a fluid manner.

We do not yet have a price for micro LED TVs ... but expect very high prices. To give you an overview, the 110 -inch TV is sold for the equivalent of 130,000 euros in Korea.

An ambitious offensive

This is a very ambitious year for Samsung who wants to dethrone the OLED by launching an attack on several fronts at the same time.

The first mini LED TVs are very interesting, especially their special functions for players. As for micro LED screens, they will be too expensive but this is the first step for massive adoption in a few years.
