Netflix game news: Squid Game, Casa de Papel, Lupin... The best series to adapt into a video game Share:
With the recent arrival of video games in the Netflix subscription, the question of titles that will arrive later naturally arises. Between Squid Game, Bridgerton or Sabrina, there is plenty to do to create adventures worthy of the name. Our opinion with content that could be adapted.
63,068 viewsHard not to know: since November 3, 2021 on Android, a selection of five mobile games is available in the Netflix subscription, at no extra cost - the iOS version will arrive later. On the program: two Stranger Things titles (Stranger Things 1984, Stranger Things 3 The Game); Shooting Hoops, a crazy sports game where you have to score baskets; Card Blast, colorful and accessible poker; and Teeter (Up), address title. Even though these last two were created by internal teams at Netflix, all eyes are obviously on the streaming giant's successful exclusive content that could bring quality video games to life. For the moment, only the mobile is concerned but why not imagine this offer on PC and Smart TV, which would make it possible to accommodate, for example, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, cult series but not exclusive to Netflix. Here is our short list.
The cases of The Witcher and League of Legends: When we think of Netflix and JV, we obviously think of the adaptations of video game licenses that have been successful on the platform. There's The Witcher, Resident Evil, Castlevania or even the "Arcane" series of League of Legends which will arrive soon. But that does not mean that these universes will eventually join the Netflix video game catalog. In the case of the witcher, the JV adaptation rights are, for example, held by CD Projekt Red. And League of Legends and Resident Evil were created in-house by Riot Games and Capcom, respectively. Netflix will therefore have to make an agreement with these companies to welcome their baby into its own toy library. And knowing the American giant, it would be quite possible. To be continued.SQUID GAME
It is impossible not to mention Squid Game, a recent Korean series hit in the Netflix catalogue. The nine-episode first season tells the story of hundreds of individuals with heavy debt on their shoulders, who try their luck in a "deadly" game to try to hit the jackpot. Deadly, that's the word, since it's a real battle royale that awaits the participants, in events inspired by games in theory made for children. With a concept so close to the video game, it is therefore not complicated to see how Squid Game could become a title in its own right, with - why not - an online dimension, where each individual would actually be a real player. With the colorful universe of the series.
BRIDGERTON
A sort of Gossip Girl in London's high society, the first season of Bridgerton recently proved to be the biggest hit in Netflix history (82 million “d 'viewing intentions' for the first 28 days of operation). The story centers on Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, who decide to pretend to be a couple in the eyes of the court. The goal: to silence the gossip and have time to choose a suitor who would suit them best. One can easily imagine a very narrative game - like Telltale for example - where you would have to talk to a whole bunch of characters without betraying your secret and making important choices. A format that would also be well suited to mobile.
CASA DE PAPEL
Another essential item in the Netflix catalogue, Casa de Papel has also become one of the most popular series on the platform. The speech, you know it well: a strange man, called “The Professor”, decides to plan the best heist of all time. To do this, he recruits the best thugs in Spain. With such a concept, we immediately think of the Payday saga, whose third episode is currently in production. The concept is more than simple: cooperate with up to four players to achieve the best flights. The Casa de Papel video game could therefore openly be inspired by it, with an improved multiplayer dimension and eight robbers. All with areas of Spain in the playground.
THE CROWN
If you know The Crown, you know that it is a very ambitious project, supposed to last 60 episodes over six seasons, chronicling the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her younger age when she ascends the throne. The series brews an incalculable number of characters and themes, and can therefore be the subject of a lot of genres of video games. First of all a very narrative title, where we would control the queen through the years, and where our choices at one time could influence the rest of the events. Or why not a strategy game, where you have to manage your empire and your relationships to run your boat well, why not with mechanics as advanced as in Crusader King III. It must be said that it makes you want.
LUPIN
A French actor in the top Netflix, it deserves a little video game adaptation, right? The series invites us to follow the story of Assane Diop (Omar Sy), who seeks to seize a jewel from the Louvre Museum, but also has to take care of his son Raoul. It's not complicated to imagine a video game from there. Lupine is an ideal license to create a nice action-infiltration title, in the line of licenses like Splinter Cell or more recently Styx. In the colors of the Louvre, the player should be careful not to sound the alarm, to the guards, while inviting the various obstacles to the treasure. Lupine could also give a totally different result, as the very nice Hitman Go did on smartphone.
13 REASONS WHY
Aside from a lot of controversy, 13 Reasons Why would be the perfect candidate for a noir-style mystery game. As a reminder, the series tells us the story of a high school student who overnight receives a box of seven cassettes from Hannah Baker. She ended her life a few weeks back. On each facet, a reason that pushed her to act but also the name of a person she considers responsible. A 13 Reasons Why game could change the characters, push us to listen to these famous tapes and then investigate, in a mix between the games Sherlock Holmes and Her Story (a title where you have to search a computer to understand the ins and outs of a story) . Exciting.
SEX EDUCATION
With all these series, we are starting to mix up a lot of different genres. So how about a flirt game, with an adaptation of Sex Education? As you probably know, the series relates the encounters of three young characters who question their sexuality, and create a "sexology cabinet" in their high school. The whole thing is not very oriented towards seducing other people, but why not imagine a dating game with all the well-known mechanics of the genre? You will have to meet people, manage a stress gauge due to your lack of experience, and do everything possible to win someone over. All while managing your classes, your schedule, and your best friends.
SABRINA
Sabrina is both a series from the 90s and a reboot on Netflix, moreover entitled "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", with a much more darker than before. We follow the story of a teenage girl born from the relationship between a wizard and a mortal. On her sixteenth birthday, she must make a momentous choice: become a member of the Church of Night or continue her mortal life. Either way, the gloomy and dark atmosphere of the work could make a perfect setting for an action-horror game with a strong personality. In addition, Sabrina can use powers that can help her defend herself. Powers that could be improved, or simply learned. The perfect marriage.
