Peacemaker: Everything you need to know about the spin-off series of The Suicide Squad

It is not only the Marvel Cinematic Universe which invites itself on the small screen.DC Comics has decided to develop its own universe extended even in television series (no, the Arrowverse, it doesn't really matter).

And for the occasion, it was not Batman, Superman, nor Wonder Woman who were chosen as a guinea pig of this experience (and even less Aquaman), but a character from The Suicide Squad: Christopher Smith, alias Peacemaker.

An anti-hero as we like, which should upset habits of the superheroic genre on television.So while waiting for this little nugget to arrive on our screens, here is everything you need to know about Peacemaker.

What will Peacemaker are going to talk about?

As its name suggests, Peacemaker will therefore be interested in the character of the same name.An anti-hero who fights for peace in the world and who is ready to do anything to achieve his goal, even if it means using force in a little too disproportionate way.A method not so pacifist as that, in short.

This extremely awaited series will therefore be the direct continuation of The Suicide Squad.Because we had seen it in the post-generic scene of the film (Attention spoilers!): The Peacemaker survived its fight with Bloodsport.But he is in a dirty state.And as a starting point of the series, Christopher Smith will therefore be found by the Amanda Waller team.And for the moment, that's all we know about the scenario of this first season.

At the controls of the series, we find James Gunn, himself who produced The Suicide Squad.And for the showrunner: "Peacemaker is an opportunity to deepen the current global problems through the objective of this superhero/super-viola/and the biggest asshole in the world".

But to believe this first exclusive preview, it will be a crazy series which will not hesitate to stay in the spirit of The Suicide Squad, while keeping a dark facet, trademark of DC comics.

Who are the actors of Peacemaker?

In the main role, it is not a surprise: the former wrestler John Cena will take up the role he had played in the cinema.As with Marvel, the big actors overpayed do not hesitate to go up the sleeves to go from the cinema to the small screen.And he will not be the only one to resume his role as The Suicide Squad, since Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland will return to embody John Economos and Emilia Harcourt, who work for Amanda Waller respectively.

And in the first extract from the series, we were able to discover two other members of the Peacemaker casting: Jennifer Brooks, in the role of Leota Adebayo, especially known for having played Tayst in Orange is the New Black;As well as Chukwudi Iwuji in the role Clemson Murn, which made some appearances in the background, especially in John Wick 2 or in season 3 of Designated Survivor.

For the rest of the actors and actresses in the series, it seems that the whole budget has passed in the cachet of John Cena, since we will not find a big name: Freddie Stroma (La Chronique des Bridgerton, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter), Robert Patrick (Scorpion, The Walking Dead), Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale, Charmed, Scary Movie), or Rizwan Manji (Schitt's Creek, MR.Robot).

When will Peacemaker be broadcast?

To be able to revel in this little gem, you will have to wait until 2022!If the exact date of broadcasting of the first episode has not yet been revealed, it will not be necessary to wait very long since it will be from January that we can discover this season 1 of Peacemaker.

The other mystery that remains is the number of episodes that this first season will include.Some sources mention a very classic format of eight episodes, but the information has not yet been confirmed.

Where will Peacemaker be broadcast in France?

In the United States, Peacemaker will be broadcast HBO Max.But in France, the VOD service has still not been announced.At the end of 2021, the streaming platform made its big arrival on the European continent with several countries: Denmark, Spain, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Principality of Andorra.And in 2022, it is planned that other nations of the old continent also have access to HBO Max: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland,Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.And for the moment, France is still not part of the lot.In January 2022, it is probably not on this platform that we can watch Peacemaker.

So where will it be broadcast in France?Usually, it is OCS which relays all the series signed HBO with us.But there is a huge but: end of 2021, the contract which links the two platforms to end.OCS will no longer be able to benefit from such exclusivity, which should normally announce the arrival of HBO Max current 2023.

And in the meantime, it's blurring.The French platform has announced that it would broadcast well in 2022 House of the Dragon, spin-off of Game of Thrones centered on the Targaryen, even though the famous contract will come to an end.But with regard to Peacemaker, OCS has still not confirmed to broadcast season 1 next January.

From then on, there are two possibilities: either Peacemaker will be well broadcast in France on OCS, or the series will remain an exclusivity (which seems unlikely for such a large title), until the launch of HBO Max in France.It will therefore be necessary to remain attentive in the coming weeks to be clear.
