YouTube is no longer on all smart TVs or connected televisions purchased before 2012.Google has just announced the stop of the flash version of its video player who was installed on these smart tv.The change is made in favor of HTML 5, richer in functionalities, open and above all less greedy in resources.

YouTube is no longer available on smart TVs or Smart TV manufactured and sold before 2012.Google has indeed announced the final end of the Flash Player support, the reader and multimedia format, which therefore prevents the videos of the YouTube platform now all in HTML 5 from launching on these televisions.Google explains that it has favored the development of HTML 5 while allowing the coexistence of the two systems for the concern of retrocompatibility until today.

Smart TV: YouTube no longer works on connected televisions

Connected televisions manufactured and sold in 2013 are the vast majority equipped with the latest version of the HTML 5 compatible youtube application.In addition, nothing prohibits the manufacturers of these televisions to push an update of firmware on the apparatus concerned.But it depends on the goodwill of these same manufacturers, whose range is often fragmented between quantity of models.It is therefore likely that many concerned televisions will stick to the black screen when YouTube is launched.

Pour profiter de Youtube quand même, Google conseille dans un communiqué d'opter pour une clé HDMI Android ou un Chromecast, et de rappeler que Youtube est disponible également sur les consoles de salon, notamment la PlayStation 3 & 4, Xbox 360 et Xbox One, et la Wii U.Google also underlines that most TVs sold after 2013 have the latest version of the YouTube application for TV.A barely veiled way of praying to you to replace your “obsolete” television!
