During its annual conference of 2021 developers, Samsung lifted the veil on many new software and services. The Korean giant has announced various improvements for its vocal assistant Bixby, Samsung Health, the Samsung Knox security system and the SmartThings ecosystem.Among these, Samsung made an important announcement: the opening of the Tizen platform to other smart TV manufacturers.

Samsung will now allow smart TV manufacturers to execute Tizen and benefit from various advantages at a minimum cost.Manufacturers can integrate the Samsung operating system into their connected televisions models using the Tizen TV platform licenses. In addition, they will have the opportunity to promote their televisions with Tizen on board during various world events.

According to Samsung, "manufacturers who want to introduce a high -end TV platform like Tizen can do it quickly and at a lower cost, and use the Tizen brand to promote their products during major external events".

Samsung ouvre enfin le système d’exploitation Tizen aux fabricants de Smart TV tiers

Tizen is already a fairly complete platform for Smart TV, providing full access to global musical and video streaming platforms and most popular video such as Netflix, Video, Hulu, Disney+ Hostar, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube TV,and many others.

Thus, third -party manufacturers will also be able to provide access to these platforms with their smart televisions as soon as the box is released.

A good thing for the market

Samsung is not the only company to offer its internal TV operating system to other manufacturers.Google offers Android TV to third -party manufacturers to integrate it into their connected televisions.Earlier this year, LG also took the train on the move and launched a license service for its webos platform.

It is therefore quite pleasant to see that Samsung joins companies like Google and LG to offer its Tizen platform rich in functionalities to other Smart TV manufacturers. However, it is currently difficult to know how many brands are ready to accept the Samsung offer and deliver their connected televisions with Tizen on board.
