The Iliad group, Free's parent company, is still doing just as well. In the 3rd quarter, its turnover reached 944.2 million euros, an increase of just over 15% over one year. Over the first 9 months of 2013, the operator's growth was 22.5% to 2.7 billion euros in turnover.

It was in the mobile telephony sector that growth was strongest in the last quarter (+34.7%), with 321 million in turnover generated. Free Mobile, on the other hand, does not communicate on its profitability.

Free Mobile: 7.4 million customers, slowdown in conquest

In terms of conquest, the 4th mobile operator attracted 640,000 new subscribers, bringing the total number of Free Mobile customers to 7.435 million. This represents 11% market share. "The Group has accelerated its acquisition of subscribers among users with moderate consumption (mobile plan at €2/month)" comments Iliad.

But if Free continued to win customers massively, Reuters nevertheless specifies that this is the "lowest number of subscriber acquisitions since the launch" of Free Mobile in January 2012.

In fixed Internet, Iliad's main source of revenue, Free recorded sales growth of 7.2% in the 3rd quarter to 625.5 million euros. The ISP has gained 62,000 subscribers and now has 5.6 million customers for its broadband services.
