For its second private sale of the year, Free Mobile has decided to sell off its mobile plans. Among the two offers proposed in a few hours, an offer with mobile at 39.99 euros/month which does not seem to be that interesting…
For 39.90 euros/month with a 24-month commitment, you can have:
Without forgetting the Pass Portugal (Valid after 60 days of seniority) which goes from 35 days to 60 days per year of unlimited calls, SMS, MMS from Portugal to Portugal and mainland France and mobile Internet in Portugal to to 3 GB of fair-use.
This package also includes a mobile to choose between: Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2, LG Nexus 4 and Apple iPhone 4 and 5. If you are a Free subscriber, this package goes to 35.99 euros per month.
In reality, Free Mobile announces its new “subsidized” plan through this offer. Indeed, the fourth operator had declared that it was preparing a subsidized offer to complete its range of “non-binding” mobile plans.
We don't know the prices of the mobiles offered, but a quick calculation allows us to know the “acceptable limits”, beyond these prices the PV offer will not be interesting.
With the Nexus 4 (8 GB), the offer does not seem interesting. Indeed, the cost of 24 months at 39.90 amounts to 959.76 euros including tax. While a Nexus 4 combo (cost of a “naked” Nexus 4: 299 euros including tax) with 24 months of package at 19.90 euros/month costs 779.76 euros. That is 180 euros difference. Even with the Nexus 4 (16 GB), the difference is 120 euros.
By taking the problem backwards, that is to say, by performing a small subtraction: (39.90*24)-(19.90*24) = 480 euros. We can deduce that this offer with commitment will be interesting for phones sold at more than 480 euros NU (this is the case of the Galaxy S4 or the iPhone 5 for example), if and only if the phone is offered with the offer (which we don't know at the moment).
Finally, Free Mobile should also sell off its “non-binding” offer, the latter could take advantage of the new “6 GB, unlimited international calls, etc. ".
Here is the PDF document that describes the terms of the offer.
