New increase in package for the SFR low cost brand, in exchange for additional gigas and 5G
When you receive a message from Red by SFR starting with: "Your package evolves", it's often bad sign. This is what 100GB package subscribers are currently received which was billed so far € 13.But for 30 more gigas and compatibility with 5G, they will have to pay € 3 additional per month, or 16 €/month, but with the possibility of refusing, if the request is made in the next months.
An identical operation (same advantages, same price increase) was launched by Bouygues Telecom last January.Admittedly, this package remains interesting, but this evolution does not help subscribers who had favored the price rather than the data envelope.
Legal enrichment or not?
According to the DGCCRF, operators have the right to increase the price of packages respecting two conditions. The first, notify a month before by mail or email (here, it's good). The second, the improvement of the subscription must only concern services that have attraided telecoms such as unlimited SMS, more data or better speed. On the other hand, they can in no case increase the price of the package for another reason such as “a music option, TV option, subscription to a book”.Again, this SFR action is therefore legal, even if the practice is generally little appreciated, including by consumer associations such as UFC-Que Choisir. In the event of an increase for another reason, the subscriber can report this increase in package on the signalconso platform set up by the repression of fraud. His situation will then be examined. When launching the platform, the authority said that companies having received several reports without reacting will be in their viewfinder.
