Rocket League Sideswipe, a mobile version of the famous multiplayer game from Psyonix, launches worldwide today. You can download it for free on iOS and Android.
It was last March that Psyonix and Epic Games announced the arrival of Rocket League on mobile with a brand new experience called Sideswipe. It is therefore not a question of a port, but of a title specially designed for mobile which is based on the bases of the game released in 2015. The principle remains the same: you have to send the ball into the opposing goal by driving your racing car and using the boost gauge and the jump button to perform aerial maneuvers. Except here, we're playing with a side view by moving the car sideways. The gameplay is easy to learn, but difficult to master, knowing that it is possible to use touch controls or connect a controller to your mobile device.
Another feature of Rocket League Sideswipe: the games last only two minutes. The competition is of course in the spotlight with a ranking system and seasons, but you can also face your friends in private games. And as in the original game, many customization elements (stickers, wheels, turbos, goal explosions, cars...) are unlockable. Weekly and seasonal challenges provide virtual currency to spend in the Item Shop as well as XP to progress through the Rocket Pass.
If you are tempted by Rocket League Sideswipe, know that you need an Android 6.0 device (or more recent) with at least 2 GB of RAM to install it. On the iOS side, a iPhone 6s or newer iPhone required. Note that you will need to log in to your Epic Games account to play online.
