Tesla is raising the prices of its Superchargers in Europe. We simulated the cost of a 0-80% load on a Model 3 SR+.
As the price of electricity soars in Europe, we expected repercussions on the prices of Tesla Superchargers.
An increase everywhere in Europe
Prices will generally increase everywhere in Europe, but not at the same level. In Germany, for example, the tariff goes from 0.40 to 0.45 euro/kWh, while it goes from 0.29 to 0.36 euro in Spain.
Chargers | Pricing |
---|---|
Tesla Superchargers (New) | 0.40 euro/kWh |
Tesla Superchargers (Old) | 0.37 euro/kWh |
TotalEnergies (175 kW) | 0.55 euro/kWh |
Ionity | 0.79 euro /minute |
Ionity (subscription) | 0.35 euro/minute |
Fastned td> | 0.59 euro/kWh |
In France, the tariff will drop from 0.37 euro/kWh to 0.40 euro. This is the rate for Tesla owners. For the moment, the opening to non-Tesla cars is being tested in certain regions of Europe.
Even if the global electricity market makes it possible to buy electricity from its neighbours, the reality is obviously different. The sources of supply are very different from one country to another, as you can see on electricityMap.
In France, for example, most of the electricity comes from nuclear power. In Germany, coal and wind power dominate. In Spain, it is gas, which explains the greater increases in the prices of Tesla Superchargers. But taxes are lower in Spain, so the price of electricity is lower than in France.
What price for a charge?
To calculate the price of a charge, the calculation is quite simple. Just take the consumption of your electric car, which averages between 12 and 20 kWh/100 km, and multiply it by the kilowatt hour rate of your energy supplier.
For example, for a Tesla Model 3 (SR+, 57 kWh), the cost of charging from 10 to 80% (which is recommended to optimize the time-cost of charging) on a Supercharger is 15 .96 euros (against 14.76 euros before the increase) or 39.9 kW recovered.
We have also calculated the price per 100 km with an average consumption of 12.93 kWh/100 km in the context of mixed use. This gives 5.17 euros per 100 kilometers, against 4.78 euros before the increase.
