Figaro's opinion

Note ?8.5/10 - Faced with the ocher and red facades of the old port of Nice, the cruise sailboat looks great while waiting for its passengers. This thug of 187 meters with chiseled lines and its majestic masts of fifty meters make it the star of each stage of the trip.During the inaugural cruise in the summer of 2021 in early July, lovers of the boat made their fiftieth navigation.Club Med 2 is a deliciously retro ship with its eight bridges, its mahogany balustrades, its furniture evoking the old rigs, its impressive veils at a time when the cruise industry prefers the giants of the seas. The yachting spirit easily marries the dynamics of Club Med.On board, passengers benefit from a wide range of sports and festive activities.Encouraged by a motivated crew, it is without hesitation for morning yoga on the rear deck or for paddle or snorkeling outings.Long chairs and deckchairs invite pleasant readings on the upper bridges often deserted during the day unless you can be tempted by the two small pools with a view.

The routes

Note ?9/10 - The weak draft of the boat allows him to navigate in shallow waters, offering the Club Med 2 spectacular approaches and original stops that no larger ships can be offered.Small ports are therefore accessible like Bandol, Saint-Florent or the island of Elba. The 2021 program adapted to the health crisis: a French and Mediterranean summer with the most beautiful stages of the Côte d'Azur and Occitanie and a tour of Corsica.

In September will follow Greece and Italy with a program including Athens, Naxos and Corfu.More distant destinations are offered with a course to Senegal with stops in Morocco, in Las Palmas in the Canaries.A 10 -day trip encompassing Cape Verde and Gambia is sold at the end of October before the traditional autumn transatlantic joining the Caribbean. This winter, the boat will offer the British virgin islands with stopover in Saint-Barthélemy for 8 days or Martinique and Guyana for 10 days.

The decor

Note ?9/10 - The forced break due to the cruise stop was not a unnecessary period for the ship.Passengers are rediscovering a most beautiful Med 2 club: the very long mahogany balustrades have been re 2010, the 2000 m2 of teak are available a new youth while behind the scenes the boat was reduced by more than 25 tonnes.New lighter materials have been chosen for machinery, among others those related to ventilation systems. This small facelift announces future renovations, that in particular of the restaurant Le Magellan with a slightly dated atmosphere. The dominant line of the decoration is that of French chic yachting with a triptych of blue, white, pastel that does not demoded. The whole can recall the chic of years Andrée Putman mixed with the cruise spirit of the great crossings of yesteryear. This unit of tone is found in well -designed cabins to comfortably approach the longest navigations. The thirty -year -old elderly boat is maintained with a care by the technical crew, the goal being to reach forty happy and without hitch.

The cabins

On a testé une croisière à bord du Club Med 2

Note ?8/10 - The boat offers 184 cabins classified into three categories: superior, deluxe and suite. The luxury yacht atmosphere prevails in all configurations: only the area changes from 18 m2 to 40 m2, the most spacious option being that of the Armeseur suite. The whole is very comfortable, from bedding to storage spaces. The bathrooms have Sothys reception products.Like common areas, the cabins are dressed in wood and provided with elegant timeless furniture.

Service and equipment

Note ?9/10 - The protocol adapted to the health crisis. The buffets have not disappeared, passengers are invited to make their choice of dish while the service is carried out by the restaurant staff. This rule is in order for the three services: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The opening hours have been extended while the distances between the tables inside have been spaced. These new procedures are not at any way of the good humor of the staff, the requirement of wearing the mask inside is recalled with a big smile.Room service is impeccable worthy of a very large hotel. The Club Med 2 has a Sothys spa, two swimming pools, a gym and a nautical club at the back of the ship located on a retractable bridge. The latter is one of the most successful attractions of Club Med: almost all activities are possible. We let ourselves be tempted by water skiing off Saint-Tropez, the paddle in the bay of Cannes or even snorkeling off the islands of Lérins.

At the table and the bar

Note ?8/10 - The Club Med 2 has three bars (two exteriors and an interior for festive evenings) and two restaurants: the "Mediterranean" and the "Magellan".The new season announces an association with the Ferrandi hotel school. The chiefs of this Parisian institution have developed a card for the boat. The "Mediterranean" buffet is varied and pleasant in the image of those who have made the reputation of Club Med around the world. At breakfast, the juices are pressed on demand, lunches and dinners combine the gourmet and the concern for well-being.You can easily alternate between the desire to have fun by choosing a generous paella or a lighter kitchen and good hold with lobster or salads to compose. The "Magellan", open only in the evening by reservation, offers a gastronomic card.Note for the latter that the choice of dishes is very limited for vegetarian passengers. The two bars at the back of the boat benefit from an impeccable service and a nice cocktail card.

Value for money

Note ?8/10 - of the mini cruise of five nights between Calvi and Bandol from € 1,558 per person to that of eleven nights in Greece and Italy from € 4,122 per person in a superior room, the range of choices is wide. For the Caribbean, the prices announced for this fall are from € 2168 per adult, for a departure on November 28 of the British Islands British.
