This new HiSense 55A7500F SmartTV enriches the manufacturer's range of connected TVs, with a very large resemblance to its big sister, the HiSense 65U7QF. However, it does not forget to be more affordable than the biggest representatives of the market such as Sony, LG and Samsung.

Design

As so often, a television model is available in different sizes. Obviously, this HiSense 55A7500F is no exception to the rule since it is also available in 43, 50 and 65 inches.

Regardless of the diagonal, the edges of the screen are rather discreet. They are obviously not non-existent, but quite absent enough for us not to pay attention to them.

Inevitably, the lower edge is more imposing for reasons of solidity. Manufacturers have therefore adopted the habit of affixing their name to it.

Only one physical button is on this HiSense A7500F, it is the power button. It is discreet under the TV, hidden behind the standby indicator of the latter.

Regarding the foot that supports its TVs, HiSense has chosen a one-piece design. For a rendering that inspires stability while maintaining an elegant aesthetic.

What would a smart TV be with a bad internet connection? In any case to avoid knowing the answer, there is a first group of connectors which includes an Ethernet socket. It is accompanied by an HDMI 2.0 compatible 4K at 60 Hz RCA video input.

Obviously, it would be quite limited with only that as a connector. There is therefore a second group comprising 2 USB ports, an optical output as well as 3 other HDMI sockets, including one ARC compatible (for a total of 4). As well as its DVB-T/T2/C and DVB-S/S2 antenna sockets.

Remote

The essential sidekick of our televisions, which adorns our coffee tables, is the remote control. It is therefore rarely forgotten in terms of design. Here, we see that HiSense is content to take up what has been done almost forever, a rounded design. Which doesn't offer the most modern of designs, but a simple, unpretentious feel. All with keys well spaced from each other.

In order to restore it a little more in its time, there are keys dedicated to the multimedia applications Netflix, Youtube, Youtube Music, PrimeVideo and Rakuten TV. We went to a few keys close to thinking it was intended for a good old CRT TV.

Getting started

Although the essence of a television is to display video content, its use does not have to be too rustic and complicated. Especially when the latter is connected.

Vidaa U

HiSense has chosen to develop its own in-house interface “Vidaa U” which can be found here in version 4.0.

This interface has the advantage of offering a large number of settings. In addition to being very ergonomic and fluid. The least we can say is that it is very pleasant to use on a daily basis.

We may regret a too poor gallery of additional applications with games of little interest which will often have trouble running correctly.

Remote

With ergonomics that incorporates what has been more classic for years, this remote control allows a good grip with easy use of each key due to the ventilation between each.

Since the latter allows the control of a connected TV, it offers for the occasion keys dedicated to the large preinstalled multimedia applications that HiSense offers.

In short, a simple but effective remote control. The only negative point that could really be noted is that we are still using infrared data transmission with the television. What happens quickly is disturbing when you have a somewhat bulky soundbar like the Sharp HT-SWB460 and you have to raise your arm to aim at the TV receiver, which is obstructed by the latter.

Fortunately, HiSense also provides the "RemoteNOW" application on the Google Play Store and the Apple Store, which allows you to use your smartphone as a remote control via Wi-Fi. relates to the connection to the various multimedia accounts. Since we will have access to a touch keyboard

Alexa

To enrich the connectivity of this A7500F model, HiSense has integrated the Alexa voice assistant from Amazon. But the remote control is not equipped with a microphone as it is possible to find with their U7GF television range from the manufacturer for example.

You will therefore have to use the RemoteNOW application on your smartphone to have access to a microphone. This leads us more often to directly use the Alexa application available on smartphones.

Its presence becomes more relevant when you have a speaker with Alexa like the Belkin SoundForm Elite. This allows you to control your TV only via voice.

Alexa will therefore allow you to turn this A7500F on / off, launch applications or even mute the sound for example. These are fairly limited actions that can still be useful with practice. But the absence of a microphone on the remote control makes its use less relevant if you do not have a speaker that also integrates Alexa.

Connectivity

As for the content to display, there is plenty to do with no less than 4 HDMI ports and an RCA input, but above all directly from Vidaa, the OS connected to the internet.

Internet

For a connected TV, the minimum required is an internet connection. For an optimal connection, it therefore has an Ethernet socket, but it also offers a wireless connection via Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, we do not have the possibility of carrying out a connection test to know the connection speed. Only a more than basic test assuring us of the connection to the Internet.

In use, the connection is still stable and seems more than adequate to be able to watch content in 4K from the various multimedia sites.

Which leads to talk about a big issue with Amazon Prime Video app which refuses to work spontaneously for no reason. Service that works perfectly on all other devices.

Audio Connectivity

Regarding the connection with external audio devices, this A7500F offers us a plethora of possibilities. Whether to a soundbar via an optical cable or with an HDMI cable thanks to its ARC port. However, there is no jack to plug in headphones or earphones since HiSense relies on Bluetooth for personal listening.

Image quality

With a display resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels for an image definition in 4K UHD, the visual is really there. At least as long as the source of the image is of good quality, especially since it supports HDR Dolby Vision. Which is clearly a plus for an attractive rendering of the image.

Colorimetry

On the color side, HiSense relies on “True Cinema Color” technology to offer color rendering as close as possible to reality. Obviously from the settings it is possible to choose 5 default image modes. Namely the Standard mode then Cinema Day, Cinema Night, Dynamic and Sport.

The manufacturer offers to go into more detail in the image settings with image mode parameters concerning brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness, for example. This even goes as far as a setting mode for experts allowing modification of the display gamma.

But for those who may have lost the sentence before, let's go back to the predefined settings when starting this HiSense A7500F. With “Standard” mode, the colors sound very bright and rather faithful to what we are able to expect.

Since it supports HDR10+, with HDR content the result colors will be more saturated for an even more vibrant result.

But a lack of light output will struggle to detach the whites. As well as the presence of vignetting on the edges of the image, making the edge of the image clearer than in its center. Not very visible on color, but far too pronounced when on a black background (visible above on the Amazon Video error photo).

Where we realize the difficulty it has in reproducing blacks, which further limits its ability to offer impeccable HDR.

Viewing angles and reflection

A large TV is often associated with a large living space. Which implies not always being perfectly in front of the latter. This is where a good viewing angle becomes important. Out, we can clearly not say that she faces miracles. The more you put yourself at an angle on the screen, the less the colors stand out from each other. The contrast gently bids us goodbye and reveals a pale image with a loss of detail.

In the same vein, the reflections of external light do not work in its favor. Positioned facing the wall which receives the light in the middle of the day, we will certainly see ourselves on the screen as soon as the atmosphere of the image becomes dark. It's not that I think I'm ugly, but my mirror already does this option quite well.

Audio quality

We will start with a negative point, in terms of audio decoding, particularly on YouTube, which leads to a sudden change in the audio rendering on the same video. Of course, when things get back to normal and you go back to when the audio was disappointing, the sound is okay again. Like what the problem really comes from the audio of the TV. Which can get quite unpleasant.

Next to that the sound is still very reasonable. With access to settings there too more than enough.

The voices are perfectly audible and natural. The highs are clear and do not become too strident when the volume approaches maximum power. Point on which we are also pleasantly surprised, the sound power is much higher than our expectations. Of course, at a high volume the sound becomes less appreciable but the bass is more present.

Because we needed a little downside and it is in the bass reproduction which leaves us slightly unsatisfied. They will perhaps be a little too discreet, for lack of space to have a good resonance.

HiSense 55A7500F Review: Reviews

This 55-inch version of the A7500F range of connected televisions from HiSense very clearly manages to justify its price, which is nevertheless very reasonable, which at the time of our test was around €500.

So indeed, for this price it will be necessary to make some concessions. Like an LED backlight that limits HDR displays. But which above all leaves visible vignetting all around the image which, associated with a panel that is too sensitive to reflections, can often spoil the dark atmospheres. Fortunately, this is still compensated by a more than adequate image quality and colors closer to reality.

MerchantStockPriceOffer522€€See556€€See558€€See603€€See

The same is true for audio. Although quite correct, it is content to reproduce an audio source without bringing it depth with bass that is not very present.

Finally, we can only welcome the efforts made by HiSense on general ergonomics. If it is a pity that we are still limited in the integrated application store, we can salute the handling that the VIDAA house OS can offer in terms of settings as well as the RemoteNOW smartphone application.

HiSense 55A7500F: Reviews

This HiSense 55A7500F offers good value for money. She is able to seduce us on all points, but does not manage to stand out clearly on any of them, sometimes leaving us hungry. This makes her an average student. Far from being a bad choice, however, you will still have to be ready to make a few small concessions in all areas. This is the game when you want a TV of this size in 4K and connected moreover, at a price which remains attractive.
