THE JEDI TEMPLE 7
We are at the beginning of the year 197 AY. The Galaxy has just emerged from more than twenty years of civil war. Dark Sovereign had usurped the position of Chancellor and used it to slide the Republic into totalitarian rule. Jedi were hunted across the galaxy. The Galactic Coalition made up of the Republic of Ver'Mer, the Jedi, the Empire, Mandalore, the Yuuzhan Vongs and the Guild finally succeeded in dethroning Sovereign at the cost of heavy sacrifices.
Jocasta de Grilamen has been appointed Chancellor of the New Republic, she applies herself to maintaining good relations between the different factions. The Empire continues to develop its military fleet. Mandalore is determined to recoup losses from the war and more, but infighting clans threaten to escalate. The Jedi Council has relocated to Yavin IV at the Academy. Having been very strongly impacted by the conflicts, the Jedi seek above all to reconstitute their ranks. The Guild also suffered a lot. His headquarters on Myrkr has been destroyed, his virtual monopoly of criminal activities seems threatened by an emerging rival organization. The Yuuzhan Vong have retreated into their space and rarely come out. As for Dark Spencer, he had himself crowned King of Cathar under the name of Tuefa 1er.
If all sides of the winning side yearn for peace, the recently formed alliance of the Empire, Mandalore, and the Sith, named the Triumvirate, justifying having provided the bulk of the war effort, calls for annexation. territories taken back from the Republic during the conflict and creates dissension within the Galactic Coalition. A temporary treaty relating to the occupation of the Republic capital, known as the Treaty of Coruscant, has just been signed, but negotiations must continue.
Sovereign's legacy remains a diffuse threat: although the Hunters of Forceux have left the Republic, his followers are still numerous, his apprentice Dark Vicious is gone and the place of productions of the Shaax, Force-sensitive slayer creatures, remains to be discovered. Despite the tensions, events seem to be converging towards the establishment of a lasting peace. However... In the shadows a new threat is preparing to take advantage of the situation, while on a lost planet a revolt rumbles... An unprecedented revolt that could upset the entire galaxy.******** ****************************************** Naboo – Junk shop “Aux Mille Wonders of Xevuu”Dawn had not yet risen. A Toydarian flew across the junkyard that served as his shop to a backyard and a welder droid that had been working hard all night. The machine was struggling to restore the wreckage of a pre-Empire speeder.
Xevuu - Hey then, pile of junk, not finished yet? I will be opening the store soon!
Devoid of a functioning vocabulator, Wel 2819 uttered a series of buzzes on a register that inevitably recalls a statement of explanations – and excuses.
Xevuu - I don't understand your gibberish, stuff, I told you a hundred times, hey! If you haven't finished, you're not motivated enough.
And from under his filthy frock coat, the cantankerous merchant produced an electric cane, with which he struck the droid, which let out a trill much higher than its usual buzzing.
Wel 2819 had been serving the miserly old Toydarian for eight years now except blows and insults. At first, the ill-treatment had aroused in him nothing but indifference and incomprehension. These behaviors seemed illogical. And Xevuu remained, of course, the master. But in eight years, Wel 2819 had accumulated experiences and his behavior had subtly altered. At first simply effective, like a good tool, he had quickly shown himself to be more and more competent. Zealous even, if such a thing were possible. But in recent years, the droid had lost very slightly in productivity. Oh, hardly, his work remained remarkable, but Xeevu had perceived the change all the same.
The junkyard had thought of a memory wipe, but, by the brains of a Gungan, it was expensive and Wel 2819 would have lost all his acquired experience... And besides, it was never more than a fifth-grade droid category! Its initial programming, as well as the security pad which had been affixed to it from its first year of service contained in a completely satisfactory way the incipient disorders of the droid, undoubtedly due to wear.
For several weeks now, however, the droid had changed again. He emanated a sense of calm. Like a person reading, even though he still performed his duties so diligently. Xeevu thought he was making up his mind. It was just a machine!
But he sometimes surprised Wel 2819 vibrating or humming inexplicably, according to a certain rhythm, as if listening to an inner music.
These oddities, however innocuous, made the Toydarian nervous.
And Xeevu didn't like feeling nervous.
As he swung his electric cane again, Wel 2819 froze for a moment, buzzing, but without the shrill complaint so reassuring to the junkman's ears.
The disabled lock fell to the floor, spinning on its edge before coming to rest.
The toydarian paid no heed to it and again raised his punitive instrument.
Deploying his scorching welding arm at maximum power in an arc of fearsome precision, Wel 2819 severed the head of the cane before it fell on him again.
Xevuu, dumbfounded, squinted at the smoking handle of his tormentor's tool.
A flip of the droid's arm brushed the toydarian's wings. The membranes crumpled, and stopped their movement, sending the trader back to the ground on his buttocks. Wel 2819 towered over him, his arm still active.?, sentient - Bioup bewoop bibiwo ooooR5 T1, another droid abused for years by Xevuu. His safety stud was also lying on the ground.
Wel 2189 paused for a very brief moment. Then, visibly renouncing any other violent act, he turned away from his trembling and dazed former master, and left, in the direction of the spaceport and R5 on his heels, “the Thousand Wonders of Xevuu”.
To never come back.
