The YouTube application is no longer available on old iOS and Apple TV devices

The YouTube application has stopped working for terminals with an "old" version of iOS and the old models of the Apple TV.Instead of seeing the video requested, the user sees this video in which we can read "YouTube will be updated to a new version which is not compatible with this device or this application".The change is linked to the update of the Youtube Data API which includes new features.

On iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you must have iOS 7 at least to have the Youtube application (available for free on the App Store).Otherwise, you have to go through Safari or another Internet browser.For the Apple TV, only the Apple TV 3G is compatible with the latest YouTube application."If you use a 2nd generation Apple TV or a previous version, it is not currently possible to watch youtube videos on these devices," explains YouTube in a support page.

In addition to iOS terminals and Apple TV, other supports are affected by this judgment.YouTube list in particular the Google TV, certain connected televisions, certain game consoles or even the RSS feed aggregators.

As a reminder, the YouTube application is no longer integrated by default in iOS from iOS 6.You have to go through the App Store to have it.For the Apple TV, it has always been present, and this from the start.
