Windows 11 laptops - to best quality webcams and microphone for the holiday season

Microsoft defines strict requirements for Windows 11 laptops sold for the holiday season in terms of webcam and micro to win in quality.

As we know, the quality of the webcam and the microphone that accompanies it are not the strengths of a laptop.

Admittedly, they have the merit of being present and avoiding investing in an external webcam, and carrying it.

However, Microsoft wants laptop users to benefit from better webcam and micro with Windows 11.

For laptops operating under Windows 11 and planned to be marketed for the holiday season, the Redmond firm requires new minimum specifications in the matter.

The goal?Improve the quality of video and audio communications for the user.

All laptops at the end of 2021 will have to provide a clearly visible LED for the webcam indicating whether it is in operation or not.

Regarding entry -level laptops, they must integrate a webcam providing 20 lux to a 2700K color temperature, and support resolutions of 640 x 360 and 1280 x 720, greater than 15 fps at 20 lux and to30 fps at 80 lux.A minimum range of 80cm when the PC hood is closed is provided for the microphone.

Mid -range laptops will have to be equipped with a webcam with similar minimum specifications except the sound level of the higher microphone with a minimum of 36dB, against 33DB for entry -level and 40dB for premium mobile computers.

Always on the mid -range side, webcam will have to offer a microphone offering a range up to 4 meters closed lid.But also adopt a minimum definition of 720p offering a minimum of 20 fps at 20lux and 30 fps at 80 lux, while high -end laptops will have to offer a webcam up to 1080p at 30 fps minimum at 20 lux and 80 lux.

Webcam time on display and more than mediocre microphone should therefore be over soon.
